Jan Krentz is a nationally recognized quilt instructor, author and designer. Winner of the 1998 Teacher of the Year award, Jan's motivating workshops are packed with practical tips, techniques and methods to insure success. Author of Lone Star Quilts & Beyond, Hunter Star Quilts & Beyond, Diamond Quilts and Beyond, Quick Star Quilts & Beyond, and Quick Diamond Quilts. Jan lives with her husband in Poway, California.
Began sewing: 1959 First Quilt: Cathedral Window, late 1960's Background in needle skills: sewing, clothing construction, cross-stitch, crewel, embroidery, needlepoint and knitting Quilt Teaching: since early 1980's : "I teach and present trunk shows for quilt guilds, quilt shops, retreats, and other related groups. My skills include teaching to a variety of students at various quilting abilities, and helping each student create a design that is exciting to them.

Historic look at the traditional 8-point star designs, ranging from Lone Stars, Hunter Stars, and the new Diamond Quilts. Combination slide presentation with trunk show of beautiful quilts!
Workshop: Using a product designed specifically for Jan's Hunter Star, learn the technique to compose a scene on a fusible foundation that will sew up into a 15" x 15" finished panel. Workshop focus: fabric selection and placement for the artistic design, construction technique, and quilting recommendations. The fusible foundation is provided with the class and instructions. Additional foundation may be purchased directly from Jan.Guild members can bring their own scene – and some scraps or fat quarters (not a lot of yardage) to cut the squares that will become the accent “star points” – a.k.a. half-square triangles (HST).
